Floor Manager - The Kimpton F&B
Join the opening team behind four bespoke, destination restaurant and bar concepts at the Kimpton Era: a street-level Latin Restaurant & Taqueria, an upscale NY Brasserie, an all-day coffee and cocktail lounge, and an Asian izakaya with 360-degree views of Rockefeller Center and Radio City.
Summary: The Floor Manager is responsible for leading the daily front-of-house operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences and efficient service execution. This role oversees staff performance, maintains operational standards, and supports a positive team culture while ensuring compliance with Company policies and industry regulations. The Floor Manager works closely with culinary, events, and beverage teams to deliver seamless service, optimize workflow, and uphold the highest standards of hospitality. Serving as a hands-on floor leader, this position plays a key role in driving guest satisfaction, team development, and overall operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food quality standards.
- Recruit, train, and manage restaurant staff on job responsibilities, safety protocols, and Company standards, especially in relation to steps of service.
- Implement and enforce Company policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and driving job satisfaction.
- Monitor and assess performance by providing consistent coaching, conducting performance reviews, and addressing employee concerns.
- Schedule and coordinate shifts, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
- Address employee concerns and grievances, escalating issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with Heart-of-House management and other departments to optimize workflow and resolve cross-functional challenges.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with relevant departments and/or suppliers to maintain adequate stock.
- Monitor and manage budgetary goals, controlling costs without compromising quality.
- Oversee event operations, including planning, coordination, staffing, and execution to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
- Manage beverage operations, including inventory control, ordering, menu development, quality assurance, and staff training on beverage standards.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints with a focus on satisfaction and recovery of service.
- Generate reports, including service recaps and other data as it relates to business trends.
Must Haves:
- 4+ years in a managerial role in a restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of POS
- Timekeeping and Scheduling
- Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
- Customer-centric
- Ability to effectively handle employee relations.
- Acute business & financial acumen
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance with wage & hour, scheduling, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
